Chris Zimmek has spent more than thirty years on garage doors, with experience repairing springs, cables, rollers and openers as well as installing residential doors. Most of what we do is repair work on doors people rely on every day, and we come to look before we quote, so the price you hear is based on your actual door and not a number pulled over the phone.
We work on homes across the area, and every job starts with a free estimate, so you know the full cost before any work begins. Whether a spring has let go, an opener has quit, or a door is ready to be replaced, the aim is the same: get the door working properly, leave it balanced and safe, and never push anything the door does not need. Chris Zimmek runs Z & Z Overhead Door out of Springfield, covering homes across Western Massachusetts and Northern Connecticut. It is a small, local shop, and the work is straightforward: fix what can be fixed, replace what needs replacing, and leave the door running right.

How much does a garage door repair cost?
It depends on the door and what the job needs, so we come and look before we quote rather than guess over the phone. You get a firm number before any work starts, and the estimate itself is free.
Do you repair garage doors, or only replace them?
Both, and most of our calls are repairs. A broken spring, a worn cable or roller, or an opener that has stopped are the common ones. When a door is genuinely past its life, we install a new one.
How soon can you come out?
Call and we will get you on the schedule for the earliest time that works. We are reachable Monday to Friday from 8am to 8pm, and weekends by appointment.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes, Z & Z is licensed and insured. It is a family-owned company run by Chris Zimmek, who has more than thirty years of experience on garage doors.
